Mattel’s new figures… in the UK!

That’s right fellow Secret Saturday toy lovers, if you live in the UK you may have noticed that the newest Action figures and Cryptid Collection figures have been shipping to your local stores for the past couple months!
Among these are the second wave of action figures which includes Fiskerton and Peicemeal as well as several new cryptids including Hibagon, Owlman, Georgia Pigman, Waitoreke, Cactus Cat and the Atmospheric Jellyfish. This of course means there are still a wave each left due for both lines. These figures yet to be spotted are the Zak, Doyle and Van Rook w/ new accessories and the Allegwi, Chupacabra, Jersey Devil and Mississippi Swamp Ape.

To everyone elsewhere, including us based in the USA it is currently unknown if, where and when these figures will pop up, but let’s all cross our fingers and be sure to check the latest merchandise sightings on our forums.

The Saturdays will be coming in full after the expansion, which is to be released at a currently unknown date. However the good news is, Zak Saturday and Fiskerton are already at Mt. Blackhead in the Pimpleback Mountains. Head over to the jungle outpost at meet them and see the Fiskertrike!

“Zak Control” Eyes Cryptid figures

Check these out! Mattel has released “Zak Control” Eyes variants of a few creatures in their Cryptid Collection line of figures. These figures have the yellow “glowing” eyes much like the exclusives in the Toys R Us 4 pack, but these elusive critters are found in the regular cryptids assortment!

The first two of these cryptids under Zak’s influence are Rakshasa and Biloko. You’ll have no trouble distinguishing these from the regular figures as Mattel even went as far as to change the artwork and copy on the boxes as well as include a sticker on the top left of the bubble to differentiate the variants. The figures themselves, apart form the paint application on the eyes, and the stand/cards are no different form their regular counterparts…

Want to nab them for yourself? Many stores around the world selling the TSS figures should already have them, but if you’re in the USA like us, a tip from forum member, White-tailed Deer, points to Big Lots as the most likely place to find these two.

Random House – Upcoming book

The Goldenbooks division of Random house publishing will soon have another Secret Saturdays title for purchase!

On May 11th 2010- “The Zak Files” will be released. Not much is known other than it is a 16 page 3-D book featuring cryptids! Any new Saturdays books are welcome here! You can pre-order it now for $6.99.

Sadly, Random House had another chapter book due out on this date, but it has gone missing. Stay tuned for an upcoming post regarding “The Unblinking Eye” chapter book.

Saturdays in CNAP #47

Earlier this month CNAP #47 went on sale and treated us to two 8 page Saturdays stories – That’s 16 pages of cryptid goodness, and another great cover from Jay Stephens!

In the first adventure “Attack of the Lake Monster”, the saturdays get called in to deal with the hostility of none other than the Thetis Lake Monster! Story by John Rozum, drawn by Scott Jeralds, inked by Scott Awley.

The second adventure “Sibling Rivalry” finds Zak in a little brotherly competition with Fiskerton as the family tried to figure out the best way to capture a Nandi Bear terrorizing a village. Story by Joell Sellner, drawn by Scott Jeralds, inked by Scott Awley.

FusionFall – Kumari Transports!

Last month, around February 10th, Fusionfall made a way cool change to the way you can get back and forth between The Wilds and The Darklands! In place of the S.C.A.M.P.E.Rs arrived a ginormous and majestic Kumari Serpent and it’s very own Kumari Soldier!

This is a gorgeous and wicked cool Saturdays addition to the Fusionfall world you’ll just have to see for yourself! Can play the game? Check the screencaps in our Fusionfall gallery for sightings of this massive cryptid!

And if you haven’ t heard the announcement, Fusionfall becomes completely FREE TO PLAY on April 19th, 2010, so now everyone can join the fun and help the Saturdays take down Fuse as we await for the expansion!

Serious apologies are in order to our fans for the near two month drought of updates! Due to unforeseen technical and personal circumstances, we were unable to provide updates to the site. However fear not, all of you loyal cryptid lovers… We’reh ere, we’re listening, and even though the show seems to have had it’s curtain call, there are still many many new Saturdays developments, and PLENTY to discuss.

In the few next days I’ll be trying to update with all the news around the world concerning The Secret Saturdays and their cryptid friends that has gone down in the past month and a half!

In the meantime, please join us on the forums, and feel free to discuss the series to all of your monster loving heart’s content!

“War of the Cryptids” – Season Finale!

The ten episode second season of The Secret Saturdays comes to a close today (Saturday, January 30th @ 9:00PM E/P on Cartoon Network) as Argost unleashes his cryptid wrath upon the world.

After last week’s brilliantly terrifying and revealing episode, I’m sure we all can not wait any longer to see how this resolves. Please don’t forget to tune in!

FusionFall – Birthday Bash with Saturdays Previews!

FusionFall is celebrating it’s second year running! There’s a party in Pokey Oaks with a lot of new guests, and who will be joining the fight against Fuse this year? The Secret Saturdays of course!

Starting today you can go in game to meet Zak, Doc, Drew, Fiskerton, Zon, Argost and a Chupacabra! What a delightful preview into what the expansion later this year holds. We hold hope in seeing our missing Saturday, Komodo, and possibly Doyle based on Drew’s comments, when it actually launches.

While your there be sure to pick up some of the Secret Saturdays P.R.E.S.E.N.T.S. It’s a pretty easy way to get a Doyle Helmet, but also be on the look out for a new set of Exclusive Jersey Devil wings!

And if you haven’t heard… we’re not sure exactly when, but FusionFall will open up it’s doors sometime this year and be entirely free to play, so everyone will be able to jump in and join the fight against Fuse with our favorite family!

“And Your Enemies Closer” Early on iTunes

Season pass holders may have already noticed, but this past Monday, iTunes released this weeks new episode of The Secret Saturdays in advance. You can now download and watch the penultimate episode of this season – “And Your Enemies Closer”. It’s a doozy… tons of action and excitement – questions answered, and many shocking surprises. We can’t wait for the finale!

Episode description:
“Doc, Zak and Fiskerton strike a bargain with the Secret Scientists. If the Saturdays can subdue a huge, wild cryptid that’s gotten loose in Dr. Beeman’s Peruvian lab, the Scientists agree to call off their pursuit of Zak for six months. Unfortunately, the shape-shifting Revolving Beast seems to be immune to Zak’s powers, and in a moment of desperation, Zak secretly turns to Argost for help. Seizing the moment, Argost springs his final trap, putting Zak’s life and the entire world in jeopardy.”
