Released just last week was another Secret Saturdays book from Random house under Del Ray Manga. The 96 page Volume 1 of the Saturday’s first adventure, “The Kur Stone, part 1″, is an adaptation of the episode presented in a comic format using screen captures from the show.
This isn’t the first time something like this has been done for a series, but honestly it’s one of the better ones I’ve seen. The pictures are clear and high res, the wording is almost dead on from the television show, and the design of the book overall is highly appealing. It even includes a few character and cryptid profile in the beginning of the book. Random House has definitely been outdoing themselves with the releases for the Saturdays, and we’ll hope you agree and pick them up for yourself.
This volume only covers part one of the story, however a second volume has not yet been announced.

Got the Cryptid Field Guide? Want to expand your library? The first two Secret Saturdays Chapter books from Random House Publishing are out as well!
These beauties are full color story book adaptations of the episodes from the series. #1 Vengeance of the Hibagon and #2 The King of Kumari Kandam are both adapted by Irene Trimble, and Illustrated by director Scott Jeralds. As adaptations, some parts of the story are added to or changed, and the dialouge isn’t as accurate as it could be, but it still brings a lot of additional fun to the series. What’s really impressive are all of the images and illustrations throughout the book. I’m not being biased when I say these are some of the nicest chapter book offerings I’ve ever seen for a kid’s show. I just wish there were more of them!
Reading these adventures are just as fun as watching them, so we recommend you give them a go. The books are 80 pages long and retail for $5.99 each. Pick them up at yoru local book store or buy them online here – Hibagon; Kumari Kandam

The Secret Saturdays are back in another issue of Cartoon Network Action Pack from DC comics – #40, which went on sale at comic retailers today.
Piecemeal returns for a snack in “Meal Worms” as the Saturdays family fly to San Luis, Mexico to solve the mystery of why a group of super fast worm-like cryptids known as Skyfish are dwindling in numbers.
Story by John Rozum, drawn by Scott Jeralds, inked by Mike Manley and cover by Jay Stephens.
It is most likely we will not see another issue with the Saturdays until at least November due to how DC is currently spacing out the properties. So savor this, as the last new adventure we’re getting during the wait for season 3!

Released today is this wonderful little book straight from the Saturday’s world. The Official Cryptid Field guide from Random House Publishing is a 96 page 6×9 soft cover book that covers all sorts of interesting information from the series – plus it comes with a 9×20 pull out poster featuring the family on one side and Cryptids on the other.
The style of the book is wonderful (lots of orange and green, with a fake tattered page look) and it covers information on 20 cryptids, which get 4 pages of data each, plus a few entries on other characters. Details of the cryptid files include region, habitat, diet, scale chart, danger level, known traits, special information, data of recent encounters and additional observations. There is also a space provided to write in your own notes, as well as an overall cryptid size chart. Zak has even written in his own comments all throughout the book – very cute.
It has to be said, this guide is a fact and image filled must have for any Secret Saturday’s fan, so we absolutely recommend you run out and snag one.
