Since last week, the final additions of the initially announced figures have been rearing their heads at retail stores.
4″ Cryptid Collection figures of Biloko, Piasa Bird, and Bishopville Lizardman were found initially at target, but forum members have also spotted them at Walmart. The Lizardman may also be found in a new TRU exclusive “Zak Pack” containing the claw, four cryptids, and an episode DVD. Still no sign of the Popobawa, or rather it’s recently changed name “Devils Cave Bird”, but we hope it does get released despite the problems.
The new assortment of Secret Adventure Figure Multi-packs containing “Antarctic Encounter”, “Midnight Feeding” and “The” Ravenous Raider have also been spotted at Walmart stores now boasting they are “The Destination for Secret Saturdays” with nifty end caps of figures promoting the line. As for the Multi packs, it’s nice to note the above contain the first ever figures for characters like Drew Saturday, Piecemeal and the Owlman.

As previously mentioned, Toys “R” Us has some exclusive items for the Secret Saturday’s toy line. So what’s the deal?
First up are two 6″ scale figure “Battle Packs”. These are exactly the same figures you can get for $8.99 individually (including all accessories and the cards), though this way you’ll be saving some cash. They’re also great to have as a boxed display piece for the collectors out there. You can get Zak Saturday (claw ver.) vs. Mutant Munya or Doc Saturday vs. Van Rook for $14.99 a set.
And second, a true exclusive – The “Cryptid Collector Pack” which contains four repainted Cryptid Collection figures of Komodo, Duah, Amarok and Tapire-Iauara. Each one of them is “under Zak’s control” having a yellow glow around their eyes, but that’s not all!…
Mattel’s line of Secret Saturdays toys continue to pop up this week. Latest sightings include Target stores stocking just about everything for the Fall reset, including the anticipated 4″ scale Cryptid Collection figures. The first assortment dropped Popobawa, but we still get 8 fantastic Cryptids this round – Komodo, Zon, Naga, Duah, Amarok, Tapire-Iauara, Alkali Lake Monster and Rakshasa. So far the cases have been pretty random, so we wish you luck hunting down the creatures you desire.
Toys “R” Us also surprised us with an Exclusive Cryptid Collector 4 pack with re-paints of Duah, Komodo, Tapire-Iauara and Amarok, but we’ll have a bit more on that later.

We have some cool updates from Toy Fair 2009 on the Mattel’s line of Secret Saturdays toys due out this year, plus over 150 new photos in the gallery including the first look at the packaging design for the line.
Turns out there will be around 18 of the Cryptid collection figures due out in the next year in various waves. They’ve only been showing about 12 of the creatures, so if your favorite isn’t there yet, cross your fingers. The cool little stands that come with these figures will also work with the awesome Cryptipedia.
The regular action figure line comprised of the human characters is on a slightly bigger scale, these seem to be near 6″, each coming with a stand like the cryptids, plus an accessory. The first 6 due out are Zak w/ Cryptid Claw, A snow suit Zak w/ Firesword, Doc Saturday w/ Power Glove, Doyle w/ Jet Pack, Van Rook w/ Battle Sword, and Munya (spider version) who was not on display.
I personally think the roleplay items are amazing. You’ve got the firesword with lights, sounds and pop out flames, who doesn’t want one of those? The Claw that features sounds and lights, plus it not only expands out from 18″ to 24″ with the press of a button but when you squeeze another part, the claw tightens to pick up things like your cryptid figures. The coolest one is probably the Cryptipedia. It’s dead on and features lots of sounds (including cryptid noises) and a black display screen with green light up text and images. The top part can pop up like the holograms from the show, and it’s basically a time based Cryptid tracker for imaginative play. Pair the Cryptipedia up with the stands from the action figures by sliding them into the back and it will display information for that specific character or cryptid. The Cryptipedia will also come with an Exclusive clear stealth Komodo figure.
We also have names for the Micro sets, including another Mini vehicle ship based playset of the Saturdays Airship that folds out into a Hibagon play area. Adventure set, and Multi Pack names will be listed later, but right now you can check them and the rest of Spectre’s extensive (and exhausting) photo-taking, in the gallery. Enjoy.
