That’s right fellow Secret Saturday toy lovers, if you live in the UK you may have noticed that the newest Action figures and Cryptid Collection figures have been shipping to your local stores for the past couple months!
Among these are the second wave of action figures which includes Fiskerton and Peicemeal as well as several new cryptids including Hibagon, Owlman, Georgia Pigman, Waitoreke, Cactus Cat and the Atmospheric Jellyfish. This of course means there are still a wave each left due for both lines.  These figures yet to be spotted are the Zak, Doyle and Van Rook w/ new accessories and the Allegwi, Chupacabra, Jersey Devil and Mississippi Swamp Ape.

To everyone elsewhere, including us based in the USA it is currently unknown if, where and when these figures will pop up, but let’s all cross our fingers and be sure to check the latest merchandise sightings on our forums.

Check these out!  Mattel has released “Zak Control” Eyes variants of a few creatures in their Cryptid Collection line of figures.   These figures have the yellow “glowing” eyes much like the exclusives in the Toys R Us  4 pack, but these elusive critters are found in the regular cryptids assortment!

The first two of these cryptids under Zak’s influence are Rakshasa and Biloko.  You’ll have no trouble distinguishing these from the regular figures as Mattel even went as far as to change the artwork and copy on the boxes as well as include a sticker on the top left of the bubble to differentiate the variants.  The figures themselves, apart form the paint application on the eyes, and the stand/cards are no different form their regular counterparts…

The Goldenbooks division of Random house publishing will soon have another Secret Saturdays title for purchase!

On May 11th 2010- “The Zak Files” will be released.  Not much is known other than it is a 16 page 3-D book featuring cryptids! Any new Saturdays books are welcome here! You can pre-order it now for $6.99.

Sadly, Random House had another chapter book due out on this date, but it has gone missing.  Stay tuned for an upcoming post regarding “The Unblinking Eye” chapter book.

Earlier this month CNAP #47 went on sale and treated us to two 8 page Saturdays stories – That’s 16 pages of cryptid goodness, and another great cover from Jay Stephens!

In the first adventure “Attack of the Lake Monster”, the saturdays get called in to deal with the hostility of none other than the Thetis Lake Monster! Story by John Rozum, drawn by Scott Jeralds, inked by Scott Awley.

The second adventure “Sibling Rivalry” finds Zak in a little brotherly competition with Fiskerton as the family tried to figure out the best way to capture a Nandi Bear terrorizing a village.  Story by Joell Sellner, drawn by Scott Jeralds, inked by Scott Awley.

Season pass holders may have already noticed, but this past Monday, iTunes released this weeks new episode of The Secret Saturdays in advance.  You can now download and watch the penultimate episode of this season – “And Your Enemies Closer”.  It’s a doozy… tons of action and excitement – questions answered, and many shocking surprises.  We can’t wait for the finale!

“Doc, Zak and Fiskerton strike a bargain with the Secret Scientists. If the Saturdays can subdue a huge, wild cryptid that’s gotten loose in Dr. Beeman’s Peruvian lab, the Scientists agree to call off their pursuit of Zak for six months. Unfortunately, the shape-shifting Revolving Beast seems to be immune to Zak’s powers, and in a moment of desperation, Zak secretly turns to Argost for help.
